Prof. Dr. Sven Degroeve is VIB staff scientist in the CompOmics group and professor in Machine Learning for the analysis of (bio)medical data in the Ghent University Department of Biomolecular Medicine. As an experienced data scientist, Prof. Dr. Degroeve applies his expertise in creating tools and predictive models for the analysis of proteomics data. Notable examples of these tools are the MS2 fragmentation intensity prediction MS²PIP tool and open modification search engine ionbot. In addition to his own research, he has been involved in several large EU projects such as METASPACE, MASSTRPLAN, and EPIC-XS.
