I am a PhD student at the Computational Omics and Systems Biology group of Ghent University and VIB.

I am a graduate of the Department of Bioengineering in Ege University, İzmir, Turkey. During my undergraduate education, I participated in the ERASMUS program at Aveiro University, Aveiro, Portugal for one academic year. Meanwhile, I carried out some lab experiments for my graduation thesis. In addition, I had laboratory training for one month in Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany and an internship for three months in Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostic, Siena, Italy.

Then, I acquired my Master degree in Biotechnology in Izmir Institute of Technology, İzmir, Turkey. My interest in bioinformatics started during my Master period. My master thesis was  aimed at developing a new algorithm to increase the scope of homology based database searches for tandem MS spectra. This study was the first project that was supported by TÜBİTAK (The scientific and technological research council of Turkey) in that laboratory. In addition to homology studies, I was also involved in another project to develop a de novo sequencing algorithm.
