I graduated in 2011 in Mathematics and Computer Sciences at the Applied Mathematics Institute, Catholic University of the West in Angers, France. The Bachelor part was more focused on Computer Sciences, and I specialized in Statistical Engineering and Actuarial Sciences during the Master.
I then joined the statistical team of a major French banking group, which was in charge of modeling and managing the internal risks models. I had the opportunity to be involved in credit risks and operational risks, where the modeling background was different for each (logistic regression and Bayesian networks, respectively).
While I have certainly learnt a lot during this previous job, the “banking spirit” does not ask a person to try new things, but to do what has been proven to work. Having kept a keen interest in science and wishing for a change of scenery, I joined the group of Lennart Martens in June 2013 as a PhD student.
